Carnatic music for beginners

When we join in any carnatic music class, these are the things they teach us-

1.Sarali Swaralu (in telugu): These Swaralu will help us to tune our tone and get ready to take up music. There are around 14 sarali swaralu. But now a days, teachers are not telling all these things as kids are not showing interest to learn so many, they want to sing as early as possible. So many of the teachers has decreased 14 to famous five.

2. Janta Swaralu – Each bit comes two times. So it is called Janta=twice swaralu.We have around 14 even in this.

3. Dattu Swaralu

4. Hechu Stayi swaralu – means we need to sing them with high pitch. There are around five swaralu in it.

5. Mandra Stayi swaralu- we need to sing with low pitch. There are around 5 swaras in it.

6. Alankaraalu- We have around 9 alankaraalu. Each alankarum has different taalams. We might have heard this word many times in TV channels. May be its important cum bit difficult.

Once we are fine with these things then we go for Geethalu.
