What should be there in Bogipallu

To put Bogipallu for your kids. We need to mix these things and pour on the kid. Married women will put kumkuma and bogipallu to kids. Even Kids will attend this function. Kids will collect whatever we pour on our kid.In some tradition they don't collect.

1. Bogipallu - means small regikayalu.
2. Flowers or flower petals
3. Small sugar cane pieces
4. Small choclates
5. Any change (one rupee and two rupee coins)

Akshinthalu should keep separately. First put kumkuma to kid then pour bogipallu and then put akshinthalu.
After that you can give thambulum to married women and can provide snacks(Optional).

Medicines and kids

We should always keep medicines far from our kids. Medicines should be placed in cubboards and should not easily reachable by them. Once my daughter had her grand father's sugar pill(at 2yr age), as it is very small tablet she swallowed it. Then they have taken her to hospital. in hospital docs have given her glucose to eat so that sugar level will not fall. thankfully nothing has happened. And once when she is with me, she had T-minic(for cold and flu) syrup half bottle, i noticed it only after 2 days, I think she had it daily little. when we called doc, he told that its ok. So, lesson learned is we should keep medicines far from our kids.

How to introduce words to kids:

Once kids complete learning alphabets teach them words.

2. Then go for high frequency 2or 3 letter words – of, so, in ,on, he, she etc

3. Then start consonant blends and vowels blends – ch words –chair, chest, chain, check etc., all – ball, call, fall, hall etc.

4. Keep repeating these words frequently.

6. then introduce antonyms and synonyms for small words. Eg- on x off, tall x short, big x small etc

7. then introduce grammer – a and an / on, under, in,in front of, behind etc / that, this, these, those

Story books for Kids-starters

When kids want to read story books on their own after learning some words, then try out these kind of story books, they are very good to read on their own. When we are introducing story books to kids, it should have big picture with one or two sentences in each page. Peppers and bubbles are very good for starters. Try out some of them. They are available in all leading book stores.

Tough questions to answer

Yesterday my daughter got one doubt.

Kid: Mom Aliens come from sky na
Me: Yes. They come from sky. From where you got this Aliens topic?
Kid: Pchhh…huu…First answer to me.
Me: Okay
Kid: In sky, God stays na, then how come Aliens?
Me: I got shocked and smiled.
Kid: Tell mom.
Me: Mmmm….They both stay in same apartment in sky.
Kid: Oh….

Then I changed the topic. First of all I don’t have much idea about aliens.how can I answer her. So urgently I need to watch some english space/alien movies. ;)

ICSE or CBSE- which is good for kids

I have seen some articles on this subject.here is my point of view-
ICSE- ICSE is a old board, organized by a private body, i mean its not related to govt. ICSE syllabus is good beacuse it gives indepth knowledge on the subjects. students never get direct questions in exams, they should know the concept and write the exams. In ICSE , English language standards are very high. I guess, they have paper 1 and paper 2 in English. Even Maths they have two papers. Many people think that ICSE and CBSE has less standards of maths than state board syllabus. But I don’t see much difference. In Science ICSE students read physics, chemistry and biology separately and need to pass in each paper. That means they will get good amount of knowledge in each topic.Where as in SSC I guess we had only one subject called science. Similarly they have to write three separate papers under social – history and Civics, economics and geography. And have other subjects like hindi, computer science, environmental science ect. When iam in 10th I guess I wrote 6 papers. But ICSE students have to give around 11 papers. we need to get pass marks in each paper. That’s why it is called tough syllabus.

CBSE- CBSE syllabus is managed by central board. Even this has good syllabus. All the topics in ICSE are covered in CBSE but with less details. As govt introduced new methods in evaluating the student, It became more easy to study and give exams. This year many students got CCE-10/10. The CCE( continuous and cumulative evaluation) takes into account both the scholastic and non-scholastic aspects and students are given grades instead of marks. This syllabus is bit less conceptual than ICSE and better than SSC syllabus. IIT and medicine entrance exams papers follow CBSE syllabus books. ICSE becomes more burden to students from 6th class onwards. So CBSE syllabus for kids would be best option. Less stress and good grades.

My Plan is like, kids should go for ICSE till 5th standard. After that we will come to know whether they can cope up with syllabus or not , based on that we can shift them either to CBSE or SSC based on their future plans and skill set required.

My daughter's Query

My elder daughter is very naughty and smarter as her father. She shows us her logical side too. Yesterday I scolded her for something, normally I don’t scold her instead I pamper her a lot. I just told her to read for sometime. That’s it. She got angry and told – why you always scold me only- why don’t you scold Dad? I told her that he is a smart guy and I doesn’t need to tell him to study and he is our head of the family. She said -Why always he is Head of the Family? Can’t I be head of the family? That’s her question. I laughed for 5 mins. To escape from studies and scoldings, she want to become head of the family. I wonder how I can handle this girl in her growing years.

How to get good score in Exams

Writing in exams is different from what you study for exams. In our daily life, We might be seeing many people who study less, but they get good score, eventhough they attempt less questions in exams. How that happens? because they know how to reproduce what they have studied for exams.Let have a look at some tips to get good score in exams.

Time Constraint: Many people say that, I know answers for all the questions, but i could not write in the given time. Except for competitive exams, exams panel set question papers by keeping time factor in mind. So We should try to avoid to say that time is not sufficient for exams. Then how to manage time in exams?
i. First have a quick glance on all the questions and its marks. If you know some question's answers very well and those questions have high marks then complete writing answers to those kind of questions first.
ii. Write what is required and improtant for small questions (less marks). Even though it is big answer, we should write in short as it is asked for only few marks. Better option to write these kind of questions is try to write in bulleted points.
iii. For mathematical papers, if possible try to skip some simple steps in solutions. Which saves some time.
iv. If you are not sure on some questions, don't waste time thinking and attempting them in the beginning. Always try to attempt them in the last.
To the Point: If question is to write briefly on something, then don't start from history and keep on writing. If you do like this, the actual point which is asked in the question will come in the middle and could be missed by valuator and its also waste of time. Its always better to highlight the actual point especially in exam sheets. Highlight with other color pen or with boxing the key workds of that answer.
Enlarge the actual question: some times we get short answers for high marks. then what to do? then write clearly what is required to that question, if any equations or formulas are there, then write them and also draw diagrams if requried for that kind of questions. its also better to write some introduction and conclusion stuff for these type of questions.
Handwriting: No need to say handwriting takes good score. good hand writing makes valuator easy to read what you have written and make them happy to correct your paper easily. but please don't spend too much of time just to write the exams with very good handwriting, which would waste some of your time.
Practice: For some questions we feel, we might have read that question but we feel very uncomfortable while writing answers to those questions. For these kind of questions we should practice with writing answers. All questions need not required to practice writing while reading, but some questions do need.

These are very few tips to get good score in exams. Anyway study well before you go for exams.
good luck for your exams.
